  Campbellsport Spillway:
Latitude: 43.59878  Longitude: -88.27098
Not sure what to call this site... up till 2009 this was indeed a spillway; but in 2009 it was removed... so now maybe it should just be called "a spot in the Milwaukee River".  In 1846 just east of Campbellsport a dam was constructed to create Campbellsport Millpond.  The picture shown at left is from a picture postcard of 1908.  The pond was a favorite of fishermen for many years, but as the wooden dam aged and was requiring a large cost to repair it, the village residents voted in 2009 to remove it.  Removing the dam allowed fish to now access the upper part of the Milwaukee River and is expected to increase fish and wildlife populations in the upper river.  Removal of the dam was accomplished using a $684,519 grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and $50,000 from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Dundee Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 43.65218   Longitude: -88.17562
At the intersections of County Roads F & G (northeast quadrant) in the community of Dundee you will find a parking lot called Dundee Mill Park.  Park there and walk 1/4 mile up a path to the north to find this small spillway.  At the parking lot there is an old mill but no water was flowing thru the mill when we were there.
Flow from this spillway is the beginning point of the Milwaukee River.

Links & Helpful Hints...
Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help.  www.topoquest.com provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).
---------------
We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at https://www.google.com/earth/.  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.
---------------
There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site http://dnr.wi.gov/ which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is www.discoverwisconsin.com.
