Barron Spillway - Lower:  View Video
Latitude: 45.40011   Longitude: -91.83661
This spillway on the Yellow River is located in the city of Barron on E. La Salle Avenue, 1/2 block east of S. 14th Street.  La Salle Avenue is one block south of Route 8.  The spillway has a drop of approximately 14 feet and there is a small gravel parking lot just east of the spillway.

This spillway on the Yellow River is located in the city of Barron in Anderson Park.  Anderson Park is on N. Mill Street 5 blocks north of W. Division Street (Division Street is also Route 8).  The spillway has a drop of approximately 5 feet and is adjacent to the main parking lot in Anderson Park.

This spillway on the Yellow River is located in the city of Barron on N. Mill Street 5 blocks north of W. Division Street (Division Street is also Route 8).  The spillway has a drop of approximately 9 feet.  Mill Street is also Route 25 as it goes south.  There is a small gravel parking lot on the west side of Mill Street just north of the spillway.

  Chetek Spillway:  View Video

This spillway of approximately a 14 foot drop drains Lake Chetek into the Chetek River.  The spillway is located in the southeast corner of Chetek 0.8 miles northeast of the Route 53 County Road I intersection (there is a parking area one block east of 1st Street on Water Street).

Mikana Spillway:  View Video

This spillway is located on the south side of the town of Mikana on Route 48 and drains Red Cedar Lake into the Red Cedar River.  There is a nice small city park with picnic table and restroom just north of the spillway.

Prairie Farm Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 45.23902   Longitude: -91.98527
This spillway creates the Prairie Farm Flowage in the Hay River on the west side of the town of Prairie Farm.  To find this spillway go west on Parker Street near the middle of town to the west end of Parker Street.  Park on either side of the street and do not block the entrance gate at the end of Parker Street.

Rice Lake Spillway:  View Video

Rice Lake Spillway drains Rice Lake into the Red Cedar River in downtown Rice Lake.  From the Route 53/48 interchange on the northwest side of Rice Lake go east on Route 48 1.3 miles and turn south on Main Street for 0.7 miles to the spillway... parking is available southeast of the spillway.

Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help.  www.topoquest.com provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).

We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at https://www.google.com/earth/.  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.

There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site http://dnr.wi.gov/ which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is www.discoverwisconsin.com.
