  Biron Spillway:
Latitude: 44.43360   Longitude: -89.77899
This spillway is 4 miles NE of Wisconsin Rapids in the Wisconsin River off Route 66.  The spillway is in two sections as can be seen in the aerial view shown at left.  Access to the north section is available via a walkway off Route 66 but water seldom flows through that section except in extreme high water times.  The south section contains a power plant and another spillway but there is no access from the south side so no video or photographs are available.

Dexter Lake Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 44.37799   Longitude: -90.11672
The backwater from this spillway in the Yellow River creates beautiful Lake Dexter.  From the town of Dexterville go north 0.1 mile on State Route 80 and turn left (west) onto State Route 54; then in 0.37 miles turn left into a cemetery entrance where there is a parking lot... from there you can walk back to the spillway.

Hurley Street Spillway:
Latitude: 44.36781   Longitude: -89.85612
This spillway is 2 miles SW of Wisconsin Rapids in the Wisconsin River off Route 54 at Hurley Street.  The spillway is in two sections as can be seen in the aerial view shown at left.  The site if fenced on the west side of the river with no access and the east side of the river is private so we were not able to get any pictures or video.  There is access down some steps from the Curling Club parking lot to the river but nothing to be seen from there except the effluent from the power plant..

Lake Wazeecha Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 44.36536   Longitude: -89.75686
Lake Wazeecha is fed by Buena Vista Creek and makes quite an exciting exit from its spillway... would make a better picture if the brush could be removed.  From the intersection of Routes 73 and 13 on the south side of Wisconsin Rapids to east on 13 and when 13 turns south continue east on E. Riverview Expressway... continue east 2.64 miles to 48th Street and turn south... in one block turn east on Wazeecha Ave for 0.5 miles to Wazeecha Park.  Park and walk a few hundred feet south to the spillway.

In downtown Nekossa I went west to County Road AA (Point Basse Road) and then went south 0.65 miles to take the photo and videos shown.  Better photos can probably be taken from the other side of the Wisconsin River... which I will do at some later time.

Links & Helpful Hints...
Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help.  www.topoquest.com provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).
---------------
We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at https://www.google.com/earth/.  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.
---------------
There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site http://dnr.wi.gov/ which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is www.discoverwisconsin.com.
