  Eureka Fish Ladder:  View Video
Latitude: 43.99431   Longitude: -88.87546
You don't see many of these... a fish ladder to allow fish to get upstream around dams.  This one is in the Fox River... from Eureka go north on Eureka Road (County K), cross the Fox River and turn left on Eureka Lock Road... travel 1.85 miles and turn left on road labeled Eureka Locks Fishing Area... park at end of road in the lot as far east as you can drive... then walk east on the road to the locks... walk across the locks and follow the path on the other side up river to the fish ladder (will be a round trip hike of 0.6 miles).

  Menasha Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 44.19964   Longitude: -88.44702
From downtown Menasha go south on Racine Street from Broad Street, cross the Fox River and immediately turn right into a parking area adjacent to the spillway.  This spillway and Neenah Spillway both drain water from Lake Winnebago into the Fox River.

  Neenah Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 44.18620   Longitude: -88.45615
The Neenah Spillway is massive but no way to get a good picture anywhere... close access is all from business property or private property or railroad tracks, etc... so the only picture you can get is from far, far away like you see at left.  From downtown Neenah go north on Commercial Street, cross the river and immediately turn right on Water Street... then cross the tracks and immediately turn right into a parking lot.  Walk south to the view shown at left.

  Waukau Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 43.99284   Longitude: -88.77117
From Oshkosh go west on Route 91 (County Road X) 9.41 miles west of Route 41 and turn right on County Road M... in 0.77 miles turn right on Route 116... in 0.13 miles turn right into parking lot for the spillway.  A path will lead you to the walkway over the spillway but there is no way to get a photo at that point... the walkway is a metal grate which makes an interesting walkway.  The picture at left was taken from the north end of the lagoon.
There is another smaller spillway at the northeast corner of the lagoon.

Links & Helpful Hints...
Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help.  www.topoquest.com provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).
---------------
We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at https://www.google.com/earth/.  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.
---------------
There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site http://dnr.wi.gov/ which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is www.discoverwisconsin.com.
