Eagle Eye Rapids:  View Video
Latitude: 43.59004   Longitude: -91.03191
Eagle Eye Rapids is in the North Fork of the Bad Axe River in the Eagle Eye State Natural Area.  From the town of Newton go 0.6 miles north on County Road O to Upper Newton Road and turn right (east)... travel 1.25 miles to a MVC (Mississippi Valley Conservancy) sign on the north side of the road at a gate.  There is no parking lot, so park alongside the road and walk 200 feet out to the stream... there are numerous larger rapids downstream from this viewpoint and some smaller ones upstream.
Read more about this area on the web... there are effigy mounds dating back to 1050AD.

Hillsboro Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 43.64879   Longitude: -90.33742
This spillway is on the south side of Hillsboro in the West Branch of the Baraboo River.  The river forms Field Veterans Memorial Lake which creates this spillway.  East Mill Street runs along the north side of the park from which you can walk out to the spillway.

Romance Rapids:  View Video
Latitude: 43.55281   Longitude: -91.14884
Vernon County doesn't have exciting falls and rapids like you find in Northern Wisconsin so we include what we can find.  This rapids ("ripple") is 50 foot north of the Route 56 bridge over the North fork of the Bad Axe River (you cannot see these rapids when you drive across the bridge; you need to park and walk to the center of the bridge).  The bridge is 4.9 miles east of Genoa and 0.2 mile west of Romance... may be a more exciting rapids after a heavy rain.

Links & Helpful Hints...
Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help.  www.topoquest.com provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).
---------------
We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at https://www.google.com/earth/.  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.
---------------
There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site http://dnr.wi.gov/ which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is www.discoverwisconsin.com.
