This spillway is in the Wisconsin River just south of Stevens Point.  From the center of Stevens Point go west 2.3 miles on Route 66 and turn left on River View Avenue; then travel  0.95 miles and turn right on W. River Drive... arrive at Al Tech Spillway on the left in 1.9 miles.

Amherst Spillway:  View Video

A very beautiful spillway in downtown Amherst.  Behind the spillway is a small lake called the Amherst Millpond which is created in the Tomorrow River.  The center of town is at the intersection of Main Street and Wilson Street... the spillway is one block east of Main just north of the Wilson Street bridge over the Tomorrow River.  Off street parking is available on the north side of Wilson Street.

Bentley Spillway:  View Video

This spillway is 10 miles NE of Stevens Point... from I-39 in Stevens Point take Route 66 north for 3.2 miles and turn left on County Road Y; then 6.33 miles north on County Y to a gravel access road off to the right for parking and walk 50 feet to the spillway.  This small spillway is in the Plover River and creates Bentley Pond just north of the spillway.

Lake Du Bay Spillway:  View Video

Lake Du Bay is north of Stevens Point in the Wisconsin River.  From Stevens Point take I-94 north for 5.5 miles and exit to the west on Route 10; then go 2.6 miles and turn right on County Road E; then travel 3.5 miles north on County E and turn right on Dam Road... arrive at the spillway in 1.3 miles.

This spillway in the Wisconsin River is on the southwest side of Stevens Point.  From Route 66 on the east side of the Wisconsin River in downtown Stevens Point go south on Water Street for 4 blocks and turn right on Wisconsin Street... in 4 blocks arrive at the river where this photo was taken.

Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help.  www.topoquest.com provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).

We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at https://www.google.com/earth/.  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.

There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site http://dnr.wi.gov/ which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is www.discoverwisconsin.com.
