  Cedar Falls:  View Video
Cedar Falls is in Northwestern Oneida County.  Our Wisconsin Waterfalls Travel Guide provides detailed directions of where to find the falls along with GPS coordinates of the site.  When needed the travel guide also provides parking availability information, walking trail details and other information about the site. Halfbreed Rapids:
Latitude: 45.69354   Longitude: -89.77734
The picture shown at left is a satellite image of Halfbreed Rapids in the Tomahawk River, as seen from Google Earth.  The road shown on the right side of the image at left is Rocky Run Road and is 3.5 miles west of Route 51 and 9 miles south of Hazelhurst.   Access to the area is across private property which is not permitted... DO NOT TRESPASS!  Trespassing charges are taken seriously by the County Sheriff.

  Hat Rapids Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 45.57120   Longitude: -89.48081
This spillway is SW of Rhinelander.  From the intersection of Routes 8 and 17 at Rhinelander go south on Route 17 for 4.2 miles and turn right onto Hat Rapids Road; then drive 1.54 miles and enter the gravel road to Hat Rapids Spillway on the right.  There is parking available at the spillway site.  This power plant and spillway is in the Wisconsin River.

Minocqua Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 45.87642   Longitude: -89.72765
This spillway is 2 miles SW of Woodruff.  From Woodruff go south on Route 51 and turn right onto Route 70 at the south side of Woodruff; then go 1.3 miles and turn left onto Morgan Road for one block, then left onto Old 70 Road for 0.34 miles; then right onto Dr. Pink Drive for 0.18 miles; then right onto Dam Road for 0.3 miles to the spillway in the Tomahawk River.

Rainbow Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 45.83366   Longitude: -89.54556
This spillway is NE of Lake Tomahawk.  From the south side of  Lake Tomahawk go east from Route 47 for 3 miles on County Road D at which point Road D turns right and in 0.2 miles there is a parking lot on the right for the spillway.  A portable toilet is also available at the parking lot.  This spillway drains into the Wisconsin River.  A fishing pier is also available below the spillway.

Rhinelander Spillway:

The picture shown at left is a satellite image of Rhinelander Spillway in the Wisconsin River, as seen from Google Earth.  The entire area is fenced so there is no access to take any photographs.   Access to the area would be across private posted property which is not permitted... DO NOT TRESPASS!  Trespassing charges are taken seriously by the County Sheriff.

Willow Spillway:

Latitude: 45.71243   Longitude: -89.84450
This spillway is 9 miles SW of Hazelhurst.  From Hazelhurst go south on Route 51 for 2.8 miles to right onto County Road Y; then follow County Y for 7 miles and at that point go straight onto Willow Dam Road; follow Willow Dam Road for 2.7 miles to Willow Spillway that drains into the Tomahawk River.  Lots of parking available and wood steps down to the rivers edge for photos.  This is a favorite spot for fishermen.

Links & Helpful Hints...
Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help.  www.topoquest.com provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).

We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at https://www.google.com/earth/.  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.

There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site http://dnr.wi.gov/ which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is www.discoverwisconsin.com.
