  Bagley Rapids:  View Video
Latitude: 45.15620   Longitude: -88.46926
From the town of Mountain go 2.1 miles south on Route 64 to right onto Forest Road 2072; then in 0.54 miles at the intersection of Fosick Lane, go straight onto Lower Bagley Rapids Road for 0.4 miles into Bagley Campground... just north of campsite #10 there is a path of about 150 feet that leads to the river and Bagley Rapids in the N. Branch of the Oconto River.  If the campground is closed, go south on Lower Bagley Rapids Road for 0.57 miles and turn right onto the River Access Road; then 0.3 miles to a parking area and a marked trail to the river.  This is named Bagley Rapids but it should probably be named Bagley Falls... let me know if you agree when you visit the area.

  Bagley Rapids - Lower:
Latitude: 45.15161   Longitude: -88.47141
These rapids are 0.4 miles downriver from the Bagley Rapids shown above.  The Bagley Rapids shown above are in the Bagley Campground and are easily accessible.  The lower drop rapids are 0.4 miles north of Kingston Road as you go north on the ATV trail and the rapids are only 60 yards off the trail to the east... problem is that the land adjacent to the trail is posted private.  All the land surrounding the rapids is private so there is no access to the rapids unless you have a kayak and want to run the rapids.  We walked the trail and you cannot see the rapids from the ATV trail because of the dense woods.  The lower rapids shown at left are reported to be a multi drop class 3 rapids.

  Chute Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 45.13108   Longitude: -88.44314
From the town of Mountain go 3.6 miles south on Route 64 to right onto Parkway Drive (turns into Chute Dam Lane); then 0.6 miles to Chute Spillway.  This spillway drains Chute Pond into the North Branch of the Oconto River.

McCauslin Brook Rapids:
Latitude: 45.29570   Longitude: -88.47903
This rapids is surrounded by private land so we could not get a video of the rapids... not sure if its a rapids or a falls... USGS maps show an approximate drop of 10 feet in the area.  The rapids is 2.2 miles east of Lakewood and 0.36 miles south of County Road F.  McCauslin Brook is known as a good trout stream and from videos we have seen it is a nice fast running stream.

Oconto Falls Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 44.87619   Longitude: -88.14823
This spillway is in downtown Oconto Falls one block west of Main Street (Route 22) on N. Maple Avenue... spillway was 99% dry in October; maybe in the spring it would have some water through it!
The picture at left was taken from the bridge over the Oconto River just downstream from the spillway.

Oconto Falls Spillway - Lower:
Latitude: 44.87194   Longitude: -88.14341
The picture shown at left is a satellite image of the Lower Oconto Falls Spillway, as seen from Google Earth. This spillway is just south of downtown Oconto Falls one block west of South Main Street and 4 blocks downstream from the spillway at Maple Street.  Problem is that the spillway is within Paper Company fences and is not accessible to the public, so no photographs are available.

Reservoir Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 45.30314   Longitude: -88.63255
The spillway is 3 miles SW of Townsend.  From the south side of Townsend go west on County Road T for 2.5 miles and turn right onto E. Burnt Dam Road; then left turn in 0.6 miles; then right in 0.11 mile on Roosevelt Street and in one block right onto Park Street; then one block to spillway.  Drainage from this spillway creates McCaslin Brook.

Stiles Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 44.85751   Longitude: -88.05397
The small town of Stiles is at the intersection of Route 141 and County Road I.  This spillway is 0.33 miles south and 0.3 miles west of that intersection along the road named Landing Lane.  As you turn onto Landing Lane off Route 141 there is a parking and boat launch area... at that area there is a walkway bridge across the Oconto River from which the photo at left was taken.

Townsend Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 45.31864   Longitude: -88.59768
This spillway is in the southwest corner of the town of Townsend.  From downtown Townsend go south on Route 32 to County Road T and turn right... go 0.36 miles and turn right onto E. Townsend Dam Road and take it to its end at a parking lot at the spillway.  No power plant to deal with here... just a nice little spillway.

Links & Helpful Hints...
Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help.  www.topoquest.com provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).
We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at https://www.google.com/earth/.  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.
There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site http://dnr.wi.gov/ which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is www.discoverwisconsin.com.
