Latitude: 45.27589   Longitude: -88.83886
This rapids is typical of numerous rapids along the Wolf River; especially on downstream.  Many of the rapids can only be visited by trespassing on private land which we do not suggest... the best way to view the many rapids on the Wolf River would be by canoe or kayak.  You can drive to this one...  from the town of Langlade at the intersection of Routes 55 and 64 go north on Route 55 for 9.4 miles and turn left onto W. Wolf River Road; then go 0.74 miles and turn right onto Wolf River Landing Road to its end at the river in 0.8 miles.

This rapids is 5+ miles SE of Langlade... from Langlade go 5.9 miles south on Route 55 and turn right on County Road M; then immediately cross the bridge over the Wolf River (if you look upriver from the bridge you can see the rapids in the distance) and turn left into a parking area.  Walk back to County M from the parking area, cross the road and you will find a well worn path into the woods that winds on north along the river.  Walk north on the path for 1/4 mile to the rapids... the rapids are about 200 yards long with the main rapids near the center of the 200 yards.

Links & Helpful Hints...
Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help. provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).
We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.
There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is
