Burns Creek Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 43.93728   Longitude: -90.97544
This spillway is NE of West Salem.  From West Salem go east 5.66 miles on Highway 16 to County Road E... turn left on E (north) and travel 1.8 miles to the spillway.  Park on the side of the road and take pictures from the roadside.  To get closer you would be on private property so do not do that unless cleared with the landowner.  It is a "cute" little spillway with a good flow of water.   The creek is Burns Creek.

Lake Neshonoc Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 43.91374   Longitude: -91.07486
Lake Neshonoc is on the NE corner of West Salem along Highway 16.  Many times of the year there is no water coming through the flood gates as shown here, and the water only goes through the power generating turbines.  So this need to be visited in the spring during spring rains or winter snow melt.  Lake Neshonoc is created by flow of the La Crosse River.

Onalaska Lake Spillway:  View Video
Latitude: 44.88374   Longitude: -91.23860
This spillway is located in Onalaska near the La Crosse Airport.  From exit 2 on I-90 go north 0.56 miles on Dawson Avenue, which turns into Fanta Reed Road, to Fishermans Road.  Go east on Fishermans Road 1.47 miles to the Onalaska Lake levee, then walk 465 yards east on the levee to the spillway.  This spillway is from the Black River backing up into Onalaska Lake... Onalaska Lake is created by Dresback Lock and Dam on the Mississippi River and seldom has enough water to flow over the spillway.

Links & Helpful Hints...
Before you visit a waterfall it is helpful to know the surrounding landscape... we use two free internet services to help.  www.topoquest.com provides free topo maps which can be enlarged and printed.  Access Topoquest and then click "find maps" on their website, put in GPS from our data (without the minus sign), click "search", then click on the first USGS map that has a DRG name, click on the map itself and select zoom level.  To navigate the area... if you want to look at an area left of the map, click on the left edge of the map, etc.  Below each map will be a listing of features shown on the map... a little work and you will learn their system (sometime clicking on the edge will not take you to an adjacent map).
---------------
We also use Google Earth.  It is a free service you can download at https://www.google.com/earth/.  Like Topoquest, you put in GPS data (or city, or county and state) and it will "fly" you to the location requested.
---------------
There are lots of internet sites that list facts about Wisconsin... one of the best is the Wisconsin DNR site http://dnr.wi.gov/ which has all kinds of info.  Another good site is www.discoverwisconsin.com.
